Top Gun
1986 · Directed by Tony Scott
Cruise. Aviators. Goose. Volleyball. The movie that single-handedly raised Navy fighter pilot recruitment 500%.
Why It's Cult
Top Gun is the most efficient propaganda film ever produced by a non-state actor. Bruckheimer-Simpson. Tony Scott. Anthem after anthem on the soundtrack. The flight sequences still hold. The plot is air-thin. The volleyball scene is not subtext. If your dad isn't quoting this on a beach somewhere right now, he was never your real dad.

Now, Mitchell must give his all; however, his father's mysterious and untimely demise still haunts him. Can Maverick prove his worth to Charlie, the flying school's no-nonsense astrophysics instructor? Will he be able to suppress his wild nature to win the prestigious Top Gun Trophy?
