The Forgotten One
1989 · Directed by Phillip Badger
Brad Johnson and Willem Dafoe fly Vietnam-era A-6 attack jets and decide to bomb Hanoi unauthorized. John Milius directs. Half the movie is plane footage.
Why It's Cult
Flight of the Intruder is Milius's last theatrical film and a bomb on release — treated as a curiosity ever since. The flying sequences are exceptional; A-6 Intruders are the ugliest beautiful planes ever made. Dafoe is great, as always. The movie rewards a low bar and a high tolerance for jingoism. Milius wanted to make Apocalypse Now's brother-from-another-mother and almost did.
The Plot, Officially
