Shaun of the Dead
2004 · Directed by Edgar Wright
Edgar Wright's romantic comedy with zombies. Pegg and Frost figuring out their lives mid-apocalypse. The Cornetto trilogy starts here.
Why It's Cult
Shaun of the Dead is a comedy about commitment that uses zombies as a metaphor for not noticing your own life happening to you. Pegg and Frost as the perfect comic dyad. Edgar Wright's editing — every cut a punchline — already at full power. Rivals Hot Fuzz for best of the trilogy depending on whose podcast you listen to. The "You've got red on you" callback is one of the great structural setups of modern comedy.
The Plot, Officially

But for him, it's an opportunity to show everyone he knows how useful he is by saving them all. All he has to do is survive, and get his ex back.
